Hi - I live in the Republic of Panama, and for over a year now I have been having "episodes" of severe stomach problems generally right side and lower belly, seems my liver, bladder and intestines get seized up. Last year I had a colonoscopy and I am clear. I do not want if I can help it to do an upper GI, then doctors always seem to want surgery. This week I will do a liver cleanse - never did that before, Any ideas? What are your rates for online consultation? Have you heard of this kind of gut problem before?

Before going to Functional Medicine University I looked at and even attended several other programs seminars. Like you say they seen to vary all over the place. However my experience with Functional Medicine University has been excellent. They teach the knowledge, testing, treatment protocols, and business knowhow that give the FM practitioner the tools necessary to be sucessful. I have found the materials and lectures to be right on target. Having taught anatomy and physiology at the collegic level for 5 years I am impressed with Functional Medicine University.

Dr DiNezza it seems like you may be the exception, and that is commendable but my wife and I have experienced functional medicine quite differently.
I am a medical practitioner, not a physician and I found out about functional medicine after research I was doing for my wife's autoimmune problems. We decided to make an appoinCovington, La and now we are both very disappointed and getting dissentious toward this practice. We never receive a courteous call to check up on my wife's progress and when we call for anything we are told to make an appointment,i,e, give us some more money.
The biggest issue I am developing with Functional Medicine is that it seems they are after the money and let me tell you, they are ridiculously expensive. Most people on average income will never be able to afford these Beau Monde practitioners.
The doctor we worked with was charging us for every little detail to the point that we had to quite going to him because he was bankrupting us. After 9 months of treatment my wife is no better than the first day we started and the doc wants us to pay for another appointment to discuss why his tx regimen is not working. He won't even get on the phone for a courtesy question and answer call. I thought these doctors were supposed to care for patients but it really seems that its really the $$$.
Also, he over charges us for supplements, some of the very same supplements(manufacturer and product dosage and quantity) I have found on other websites for less money.
I believe in Functional Medicine but doctors with this "no pay, no play" attitude are going to run people away. I have asked him from time to time about his opinion about different medical issues and products and he just blows me off and gives me some yada, yada answer which is worthless and he seems to be put off that I am asking questions outside of an appointment setting which we will be charged for.
If this attitude continues Function Medicine will have a long hard road ahead. As a medical practitioner myself I am always giving my patients free information and recommendations as well as answers to their concerns and I don't charging them a la carte for every interaction or advice and opinion I give them.
It seems some Functional Medicine practitioners still retain old conventional medicines approach when it comes to the financial aspect of a business and that is shameful because their clients are paying through the nose for their services already. I am not saying they should work for free, but when an established patients calls for help and you want to charge them over and over, come on, really ????
