This is a great perspective! I've been living and dying by my IgG results for 8 years now---but did nothing to heal my gut, so of course my list of sensitivities is just growing! I'm now working on healing and praying that one day I can re-introduce many of my most beloved foods. Thanks Nikki!

The perpetual testing and re-testing for food sensitivities is a slippery slope indeed, Ellen. It's easy (and tempting!) to always be on the hunt for the newest/different test that will hold the magic key. I've been there as a patient, so I completely get it... But it's generally not a very effective approach.

Can you tell me if a negative result to all dairy on Cyrex Cross Reactive foods panel means I can safely eat dairy? I'm so confused by my Cyrex results not correlating with my autoimmune symptoms (skin).
But perhaps it is from untested foods I am reacting? How accurate are the negative results on Cyrex?

Hi, Lori

I usually tell people to listen to your body first and foremost. If you know dairy causes symptoms then I'd steer clear of it. While I have found Cyrex to be pretty darn accurate, no test is perfect and it is possible to have a false negative still. Also, if you weren't eating dairy leading up to the blood draw then that would produce a false negative test since you need to consume the food to produce an antibody response.

It is also possible that you are reacting to some component of dairy that this test is not measuring. For example, this test is not evaluating for lactose intolerance.

Hope that helps!
